February 2009 Archives

This great country, which I hold so dear, is in trouble. The principles on which our nation was founded seem to be deteriorating daily. Our government, comprised of elected officials sworn to represent us, has abandoned its sovereign duty to the people. Our voices, already muffled by the roar of a liberal media, are falling on the deaf ears of an uncompromising Congress. In an economic crisis created in large part by irresponsible government interference, it seems our government's answer is more of the same. If big government was the cause, how can bigger government be the solution?

In the 1760's the British Government began to use taxation as a tool to suppress prosperity and limit the liberties of its people. Much like our own, the British government abused its power and submitted, not to the citizens, but to the special interests and political gain. On December 16, 1773, American colonists decided, as have we, that enough is enough. In a bold act of protest, the Sons of Liberty filled the Boston Harbor with more than 45 tons of East India Company tea.

The Boston Tea Party put into motion the events that would ultimately lead to the American Revolution and on July 4, 1776, our founding fathers would adopt The Declaration of Independence. This document not only announced our independence from Britain, but it asserted our unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In addition to these, the Declaration of Independence ensures our right to protect ourselves from a government that becomes destructive and to alter, abolish, or recreate a government that has ceased to fulfill the duties for which it was created.

In the shadow of failed bailouts that have been squandered away by greedy CEO's and uncooperative labor unions, our government has passed legislation that will prove to be the largest and most costly expansion of government in history. With trillions of dollars gone and wasted, we have stood and watched the America we love slip away; the America that has flourished in a system of free market capitalism and thrived in a democracy centered around states' rights, it is our duty to act. We will stand by and watch no more.

This Friday, all across this nation, "we the people" will be invoking the spirit of our forefathers and joining our voices in an effort to drown out the chatter of mediocrity. We will have a Tea Party of our own. In fact, we will have many. We will speak out against the infliction of a debt that will cripple future generations. We will protest the use of fear by our leaders to impose upon us their liberal agendas. We will respond to the threat of socialism that intensifies as wealth is seized and redistributed. We will reclaim our exceptionalism that sets up apart and provides every man, woman and child with the opportunity to achieve the American Dream . We will reject the class warfare and victim mentality that eats away at peace and prosperity. And once again, we will empower the people...and the people will prevail.

The President has said that he gets it. Let's make sure that he does. Join us...

Vae Victis - Woe to the Conquered!

Porkulus, revocation of existing tax cuts, usurpation of individual liberties and now - drum roll please - the mortgage rescue plan.

Attempts, each one, to use the US tax code to affect social change rather than good tax policy. So now we see the nature of 'Hope and Change' in our Obama nation and it comes through the cudgel of retribution.

We now have 'dear leader' and the US government openly engaging in financial jihad against our own citizens  by punishing everyone who has worked hard, exercised personal responsibility, played by the rules, provided for themselves and family without government assistance in the name of equality.

"... our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal..."  All this, so that nearly 8 scores later, the hard earned fruits of your own labors can be seized  - yes confiscated - by a government intent on purposeful and unchallenged unequal treatment???  (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot - over!)

That fact that the socialists have garnered control of our government and will ceaselessly use unjust methods via the tax code to penalize legitimate citizens is not surprising.

What is surprising and breath taking in it disappointment is seemly unconcern of those that must pay. But, like captives being brought to a slow boil by moral cannibals we are all to be devoured!

Concurrent nationwide Tea-Parties are being planed are you ready?

continued from 'Fear!'

The changing American psyche from the concepts of independence and self reliance to the ideas of dependence and government subsidy is due in large part to the New Deal and the manifesto it inspired: that the government can and should solve your problems. . .

Those advancing the New Deal manifesto are also the same pusillanimous characters who are snared by the fallacious argument that 'we can all live at the expense of someone else'. However, this is a belief absent from our founder's documents and until public schools elevated FDR to near sainthood and the New Deal to nearly a sacrament these beliefs were absent from the American concepts of self too.

Never has this belief that that the government can and should solve your problems been more dangerous for our country that what we have been witnessing for the past few days.

The market, rocked by an ever more serious series of trials - not the least of these include the Fannie Mae Bailout, Porkulus, and as if to add insult to injury: Mortgage Relief has been on a 2000 point tank since Dear Leader was inaugurated. It is as if the last eight years of sweat, blood, hard work, toil  and travails have been undone in the last month. What it took all Americans 8 years to build Dear Leader, Pelois and Reid destroyed within their first 30 days of office. Can you image what the next 4 years will be like?

And now, as if Hugo Chavez is the president of the United States, the headlines on Drudge scream "To Seize or not to Seize" and shares of major banks plummet on fears of out right nationalization! source

Hardworking Americans deserve - no, have earned better treatment than this; but alas we are in for more punishment while bad behavior- okay fraudulent gaming the system behavior is celebrated, uplifted, even rewarded. And as if some by some act of cosmic cruelty, the undeserving will be rewarded by dollars confiscated from us!

This for everyone who did NOT see this today. I watched live and was thinking he sounded like a combination of Sam Adams and Paul Revere - quite remarkable for broadcast TV.

Congressional fools have perpetrated an economic deception on the American Taxpayer. Letting no crisis go un-wasted, rather than 'hope and change' they've leveraged 'fear and despair' to foist  a radical 'transformation' of America from the land of freedom to the land of 'welfare state slavery'.

This giant usurpation of individual rights, personal property and economic freedoms from individuals to the 'state' is staggering both in its rapidity and scope. But, is this potential catastrophe as bad as it is being 'panic mongered'? Or, are we being played like a funky piano in a brothel? Source

Currently we have a 7.6% unemployment rate in the in the country. During the height of the 'Great Depression' we had more than triple that number of unemployed (25.2%).

But, it is simply irresponsible to compare current 7.6% unemployment rate to the 25.2% experienced during the Great Depression - unless you have something to gain by making such comparisons!

As historians are now telling us during the 1930's while the rest of the world had a depression, these United States had a Great Depression. But, our Great Depression was made great my our own actions meant to make things better.

As the depression ground on, the American public seeking "change and hope" elected an untested activist who assembled the "best minds" in the country, known then as the 'Brain Trust'. And after just 100 days, President Roosevelt and the 'Brian Trust' brought forth new legislation called the 'New Deal'.  The New Deal signaled a radical transformation of the relationship between the people and the Federal Government.

Not unlike our current 'American Recovery and Reinvestment' act of 2009, the New Deal was supposed to make things better, instead it made bad things worse, much worse. The consequence of the new 'central economic planning' made the depression the GREAT DEPRESSION and beget a host of government programs like the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Works Progress Administration, National Recovery Administration,  the Social Security System and of course Fannie Mae. Yes, the same Fannie Mae that is part and parcel of our current economic woes. More importantly, the New Deal began an alteration of the American concept of government which is still with us today.

Well, without so much as a glance at the final de-stimulation bill, the House democrats have sold us all into slavery. More likely to be truth is that they have sold our children into slavery.

With a casualness that should be considered criminal, the United States House of Representative Democrats are stealing from every hard working America by taking that which was earned through effort and hard work to be distributed dishonestly to those who did nothing to earn it. Well almost nothing to earn it, nothing except to vote these monstrous thieves into office!

The obvious moral hazards are not enough to shame these violators of the public trust - oh - and violators their constitutional oath into abandoning their feckless charge. Instead, they move ahead in secret , without transparency  to debase themselves in an economic riot  of orgiastic theft.

Sadly house Democrats are stealing the future, they are stealing the "full faith and credit" from the nation, they are stealing domestic tranquility, they are stealing posterity and they are stealing our Blessings of Liberty.

Like thieves in the night they come to devour what was once one of our nations greatest assets - Freedom!

"N.Y. Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer took to the floor on Tuesday to sneer at public outrage over the trillion-dollar porkulus. "The American people really don't care," he said, about those "little tiny, yes, porky amendments." He punctuated his derision by pinching his pointer finger and thumb together. Only the "chattering classes"
worry about such trivial matters, Schumer scoffed."

When are we going to say enough is enough?  Our Congress is full of condescending, supercilious S O Bs like Schumer.  They look down their collective noses at us and sneer at the great unwashed who through neglect, apathy, and mostly stupidity, keep electing these scoundrels to public office.

It must be noted that this is not peculiar to one party.  Although the Democrats are overloaded with blowhards like Schumer, Reid and Pelosi, the Republican Party certainly has its share.  It's time to weed them out.

George Washington warned us against having a two-party system and we are now discovering just how right he was.

We all need to be Sons and Daughters of Liberty again.  We all need to read or re-read our Declaration of Independence and Constitution and keep them in our hearts and minds.  These two documents are the most important documents ever written by man.  And I'm thoroughly convinced, guided by God's hand.

People I talk to are angry and feel isolated.  Everyone asks: "What can I do all by myself?"  My answer is:  "Plenty!"

Don't be afraid to speak your mind.  You'll be surprised how many people will agree with you.  Remember, almost sixty million people DID NOT vote for Obama; and many who voted for him are now regretting it.  So don't be afraid.  You have plenty of freedom-loving friends on your side.

Speak up now, or you may be silenced forever.

American History and civics is an important part of the circular in every young American's education. It is important to learn why America is just so different from so many other countries and why the American experiment in representative government is radically unique amongst all of the histories of all of the countries of the world..

Though we now elected a president who spent much of his formative years outside the mainstream of American thought and experience.  I am almost positive that they didn't teach American History and American Civics in the madrassa -or 'Muslim school' if you prefer - that 'Dear Leader' attended as a youth.  Needless to say, he did NOT grow up with many of the shared experiences as we did, and perhaps that is why he is so eager to change them.

And now we have that same president espousing the completely UNAMERICAN notion that only the "federal government can "jolt our economy back to life."

Has everybody forgotten, that the federal government doesn't have any money, UNLESS, it takes it away from someone else first?/!

Let's get this on the table now, 'Dear Leader' expects us to believe he can grow the economy, which is the best way to save it, by taking money away from those who have actually earned it and giving it to those who have a demonstrated an inability to earn it???

What could he be thinking? How does that make sense? You make something greater by subtracting from it? That's like cutting off the end of a blanket, sewing on the other side and now saying you now have more blanket. That kind of unreasoning might work in milieu of Chi-town thug politics; but, should not be allowed to be perpetuated on the US taxpayer like some sort of a Jedi Mind trick.

Reviewing so far: 'Dear Leader' doesn't share many of our formative educational experiences. He appears very eager to change the American experience of "can-do, self reliance and personal responsibility" into something that is less, much less. In fact he and a majority of our elected officials seem quite willing to change the American experience into something that is quite UNAMERICAN. And for that we will all be lessened by it.

Wake UP!

Headlines now scream:

Communist: Obama working to nationalize U.S. economy

Claims 'people advocate president' pushing through radical agenda

President Obama is "considering" a radical agenda to nationalize the U.S. financial system, the Federal Reserve Bank, and private industries such as energy and other sectors whose future is "problematic" in private hands, claims the leader of the Communist Party USA.
...

"We now have not simply a friend, but a people's advocate in the White House," declared Webb at a recent speech in Ohio for People's Weekly World Communist newspaper. Source

Well it's official, the head of the Communist Party USA says they have not just a friend; but, advocate in the Whitehouse!

During the 2008 campaign, I shouted out to many regarding the socialist implications of "Dear Leaders" promises, only to be chastised by many who disbelieved that they could actually be enacted.

Now with the impending passage of the PORKULUS bill, it seems we are nearly there, close to the edge, on the brink, "headed for catastrophe" as Dear Leader has been saying. The catastrophe of course is that we, the United States will be moving from a free market economy  to a managed socialist economy without so much as a whisper from our citizens. The crime here is the "quickening" of pace and the rush to get it done without through review or introspection of consequences.

The senate version of HR1 was delivered out very late Saturday night weighing in at 778 pages, there is now way that this bill can be reviewed,  and vetted and have any reasonable objections heard. Since, it's authorship is from the Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi wing of the Democrat party, you can bet that it will be much more about empowering democrats as a party and redistributing wealth from those that earn it to those that don't.

And that's not all, Newsweek is now reporting with some sense of pride that "We are all Socialists Now".  Source

This is the stuff that should be everyone's blood run cold.

I have been frequently asked "What is Twitter ?" Some have likened Twitter to  micro-blogging meets instant messaging and others have said Twitter is like 'FaceBook on Crack' ;)

To me Twiiter is a powerfully communication medium that really reinforces Shakespeare's old admonition; "brevity is the soul of wit". this is especially true, since all Twitter posts are done in 140 characters OR LESS. Yes, that includes spaces. Your entire 'train of though' must be communicated clearly and succinctly.

Unlike instant messaging where the communication is 'one to one' (you to a friend),  tweeting  is multi-casting  or  'one to many' where you to communicate to your friends - called followers- and to the pubic twitter time line by answer the fundamental question: what are you doing.

Below is a good starting point for twitter!

tin-man.jpg

The 'Tin Man'

"I thought I had beaten the Wicked Witch then, and I worked harder than ever; but I little knew how cruel my enemy could be. She thought of a new way to kill my love for the beautiful Munchkin maiden, and made my axe slip again, so that it cut right through my body, splitting me into two halves. Once more the tinsmith came to my help and made me a body of tin, fastening my tin arms and legs and head to it, by means of joints, so that I could move around as well as ever. But, alas! I had now no heart, so that I lost all my love for the Munchkin girl, and did not care whether I married her or not. I suppose she is still living with the old woman, waiting for me to come after her.

"My body shone so brightly in the sun that I felt very proud of it and it did not matter now if my axe slipped, for it could not cut me. There was only one danger--that my joints would rust; but I kept an oil-can in my cottage and took care to oil myself whenever I needed it. However, there came a day when I forgot to do this, and, being caught in a rainstorm, before I thought of the danger my joints had rusted, and I was left to stand in the woods until you came to help me. It was a terrible thing to undergo, but during the year I stood there I had time to think that the greatest loss I had known was the loss of my heart. While I was in love I was the happiest man on earth; but no one can love who has not a heart, and so I am resolved to ask Oz to give me one. If he does, I will go back to the Munchkin maiden and marry her."

Both Dorothy and the Scarecrow had been greatly interested in the story of the Tin Woodman, and now they knew why he was so anxious to get a new heart.

"All the same," said the Scarecrow, "I shall ask for brains instead of a heart; for a fool would not know what to do with a heart if he had one."

"I shall take the heart," returned the Tin Woodman; "for brains do not make one happy, and happiness is the best thing in the world." Source

The back-story on L. Frank Baum's tin woodsman egregiously absent from the movie, is a vivid reminder to us all to:  NOT LOOSE HEART. I was reminded of this when some friends and I were discussing a chapter in John Eldredge's book:  Waking the Dead.

With the ongoing crush of bad economic news, discouraging political machinations like the 'Porkulus bill', and outright fraud and deceit in nearly every corner of public life, it is easy to become habituated to the demoralizing consequences of our post-modern life and be lessened by it.  Wave after wave, it pounds and we become hollow, mechanical, and like the tin man, our capacity for humanness is reduced.

And it is to that battle that we are currently called: To stand on the ramparts of our own life and push back against all who would willingly "steal our joy".  Speak loudly against those who gladly diminish our humanity and shout to the heavens that while we yet breath we have do have faith!

From there, we can crawl back to life, heal our wounded spirits,  and stand ready at the parapet with a stout heart prepared for the hard tasks ahead. Our future depends on it, our children's future depends on it. Our way of life depends on it.

As the Fabric of our nation frays from the constant "tug of war"   between personal freedom and welfare state slavery, there is much nefarious afoot.

So, just when you think things can't get any worse, there is this prognostication that the United States will fall apart in 2010. And, that the ensuing economic and moral collapse will trigger civil war and accomplish what the "war between the states" could not: the eventual breakup of the US. Source (Wall Street Journal):

(yes the map is to get you to read the story link above.)

dividedstates.gif

The real story isn't the ongoing predictions of the demise of America, instead the story is that many forces both internal and external seemed to be aligned to make this a reality.

While "Dear Leader" signals weakness to the Islamic-Fascists and to our national economic competitors many of our long standing adversaries seemed poised to affect advantage over both our failing economic situation and quite obvious moral decline.

Though most immediate challenge to the United States and our principals of Liberty, Freedom, Personal Responsibility and Pursuit of Happiness seems to come not from our enemies; but, from our very own elected officials who are at this very moment scheming to steal from every taxpaying American - all the while telling us we are NOT paying enough or is that (patriotic enough)

Perhaps that is why they (Alibama and the Forty Thieves) are so anxious to:

tugowar.gif

The "Welfare State" and "Personal Liberty" are opposite ends of the same lever. Ipso facto, Socialism is at the opposite end of the seesaw from "Private Property".

Currently politicians, main stream media (MSM) and citizens of our beloved republic have all been deluding themselves with the notion that an ever growing federal government can be all things for all people. The fallacious argument is that:  those in Washington can balance between 'personal liberties and freedoms' as enumerating in the Constitution and 'the idea that everyone can live at the expense of everyone else.'

But these concepts are the antithesis of each other and can not exist together. So instead what we have is the gradual ripping of the fabric of our society where those that produce are being pulled by those that demand. Both can not be winners. And if the "demand-ers" are successful, then those that are producers will become slaves of the state so that those in Washington can continue to pander to the "demand-ers". A ploy which is certain to keep them in office and in power!

To illustrate: Much has been made that Exxon mobile had  record profits of $45.22 Billion (yes billion with a "B") stroking outrage among the socialist and welfare state crowd in Washington. Yet no one, certainly true for the MSM, has mentioned the Federal Guv'ments windfall tax of $36.5 Billion on this same revenue. Yes, Exxon earned $81.75 Billion dollars to which not quite half (44,5% to be exact) was immediately confiscated by the federal government. Source

A toll demanded without, risk, without effort, without so much as a 'value add'. Washington gets it's unfair share for doing nothing. Is it any wonder they believe they can existing at the expense of someone else. Well, make no mistake that someone else: is YOU!
